"We needed these people to have a season of being themselves — or who they thought they were — in order to earn the subsequent seasons."
Daniel Levy - on character development in Schitt’s Creek
Greetings Comedy Crowders,
There are formulas and worksheets abound for how you build your characters, how to craft their story, endow them with motivations, dress them, accent them, and give them unique flaws like cucumber aversion or joy induced flatulence. What they don't tell you, is how to show these traits to your audience.
Today’s inspiration video is all about characterisation, the art of how to introduce your characters to an audience.
But first, some opportunities…
COMMUNITY NEWS
How To Make Her Leave - with John Cleese!
We first encountered the comic talents of Steve Hodgetts and Michael Boccalini when they entered Chorts with their superb “transnational” comedy characters Pierre and Jean-Paul.
Fast forward a few years and they have just developed their second feature film “How To Make Her Leave” as Anna Barbara productions, starring the legendary John Cleese, and featuring fellow talented Comedy Crowder Rob Morgan.
The above pic was taken from a premiere in LA in July. We are delighted to be an Exec Producer on the film and can’t wait for the release in the coming months.
