‘It only takes five minutes to break the cycle.’
James Clear
Greetings Comedy Crowders,
We all get stuck.
A once promising writing session is shrouded in a fog of concentrated nothing. A productive blast through a task is ruined by a first well meaning then finger adhesive scroll. Sometimes our starting blocks go missing.
We aren’t powerless. The sooner we can shift our state the better, and whether you’re a walker, meditator or even if you’re inclined, as the quote author suggests, to smash up a bicycle for five minutes, you can wrest back control of the narrative.
Everyone gets the block, you don’t need to give in to it. Now have a peek at this…

Unusual 10 page Script Call Out - British Comedy Guide Opp
BCG have partnered with award-winning indie ‘unusual’, the production company behind such hits as The Skewer, The Naked Week, and new comedy The Island, starring Stephen Mangan.
They want to find the strongest, funniest new narrative scripts for audio comedy. Whether sitcom or comedy drama, they should ‘paint genuinely enthralling, laugh-out-loud worlds for the listener to get lost in’.
You’ll need to be a BCG member to submit, and to that end you can get a £15 discount by using code: ComedyCrowd.
Itchy Feet Productions | 12months 12stories
Itchy Feet Productions is looking for a max 2-minute (no minimum) monologue or poem inspired by the Fringe Season for an upcoming August episode dedicated to all things Fringe Theatre.

50 ways to use Chat GPT Image Generator… and what are the takeaways for creatives
In last week’s newsletter we talked about how AI is some way off contracting a marketable sense of comedy. Similarly, it is making strides in image generation as illustrated in this video.
At the conclusion, Matt Wolfe posits that in spite of the technical capacity of AI, it does not replace the creative. Give it a detailed prompt, and it will do a job, but actually creating those ideas and understanding how they fit into a wider vision remains a distinctly human specialism.
